Basketball Recap: Wakefield Country Day Falls to Front Royal Homeschool in First Game of Season

Wakefield Country Day unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 55-50 to the Front Royal HomeSchool Flames on Thursday. The Owls were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Flames apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Wakefield Country Day lost, don't look at Jacob Didomenico. Despite the final result, he posted 27 points along with six boards and three steals. Didomenico's big performance that afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 21 points. Blake Jordan was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Front Royal HomeSchool got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Edmund Beer out in front who put up 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gus Kasinski, who scored 15 points.

Wakefield Country Day wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 42-39 loss against Eukarya Christian Academy on the 5th. As for Front Royal HomeSchool, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Eastern Shore HomeSchool at 2:45 p.m. on January 3, 2026.
