Baseball Game Preview: Barker Bulldogs vs. Newfane Panthers

For the second straight game, Barker will face off against Newfane. The Bulldogs will take on the Panthers at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Barker needed a bit of extra time to put away Newfane. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Panthers.

Noah Sandolfini and Jackson Prynn were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Sandolfini struck out 12 batters over 7.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Meanwhile, Prynn tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave Sandolfini a new career-high. At bat, Sandolfini went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Prynn got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double. That double was Sandolfini's first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Drew LaGreca, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That run marked the first that he has scored this season.

Newfane's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Barker, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-6.
