Basketball Game Preview: Birdville Hawks vs. Lake Dallas Falcons

Birdville is 2-8 against Lake Dallas since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Birdville Hawks duke it out with the Lake Dallas Falcons at 5:45 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Birdville is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They were beaten by Ryan 64-24. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 794th, while the Raiders are ranked 45th).

Meanwhile, Lake Dallas was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 49-45 to Panther Creek.

Birdville will need focus on slowing down Maizen Gillam, one of several Lake Dallas players who made an impact when they last played. She went 6 of 14 on her way to 18 points. That was a full 40% of Lake Dallas' points, marking the sixth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Morrison, who had ten points and four steals.

Lake Dallas' defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-9. As for Birdville, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Birdville and Lake Dallas were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in February, but Birdville came up empty-handed after a 42-41 defeat. Can Birdville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
