Basketball Recap: Mount De Sales Academy's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

Mount de Sales Academy entered their game against Gatewood on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Mount de Sales Academy Cavaliers fell just short of the Gatewood Gators by a score of 79-76. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (67), the Cavaliers still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Mount de Sales Academy lost, don't look at Jackson Rowley. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. Rowley's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zavion DeShazier, who posted 15 points along with five assists and five boards.

Gatewood was led to victory by Matt Allen and Kaden Keiser. Allen went 15 of 33 on his way to 38 points and five rebounds, while Keiser went 6 of 12 on his way to 19 points in addition to six assists and five boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Allen has scored at least a third of Gatewood's points. Another player making a difference was Lake Ferman, who had six points and five rebounds.

Mount de Sales Academy's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-2. As for Gatewood, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Mount de Sales Academy will face off against St. George's at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Gatewood, they will take on Piedmont Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Gatewood's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
