Baseball Game Preview: D.H. Conley Vikings vs. South Brunswick Cougars

The D.H. Conley Vikings will take on the South Brunswick Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

D.H. Conley is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out West Carteret 5-4. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won five in a row.

Caleb Case looked comfortable as he struck out nine batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Davis Bradley and Ethan Stewart did most of the damage at the plate: Bradley went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI, while Stewart scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most RBI Bradley has posted since back in March of 2024. Nolan Winfield was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, South Brunswick was able to grind out a solid victory over Wilmington Christian Academy on Monday, taking the game 7-4.

Everything went D.H. Conley's way against South Brunswick in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as D.H. Conley made off with a 13-0 win. Will D.H. Conley repeat their success, or does South Brunswick have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
