Baseball Game Preview: East Grand Rapids Pioneers vs. Forest Hills Eastern Hawks

The East Grand Rapids Pioneers are taking a road trip to take on the Forest Hills Eastern Hawks at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (East Grand Rapids 2.5, Forest Hills Eastern 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

East Grand Rapids' last matchup with DeWitt could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Friday. The Pioneers lost 14-0 to the Panthers. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Pioneers, who until this matchup were averaging 2.54 runs allowed.

Meanwhile, Forest Hills Eastern came tearing into Friday's game with 19 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 6-3.

Forest Hills Eastern's win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for East Grand Rapids, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-4-1.
