Preview: LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls vs. Aubrey Rogers Patriots
After two games on the road, LaBelle is heading back home. They will take on the Aubrey Rogers Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. LaBelle has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you make six more threes than your opponent, a fact LaBelle proved on Tuesday. They walked away with a 54-44 victory over Gateway Charter.
LaBelle's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marissa Burchard, who scored 25 points along with two steals. Burchard has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Aariah Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds.
Aubrey Rogers has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a hard 71-52 fall against Lemon Bay on Thursday.
LaBelle's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Aubrey Rogers, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-6.
LaBelle might still be hurting after the 62-36 loss they got from Aubrey Rogers when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can LaBelle avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
