Softball Recap: Windermere Prep Takes a Loss

The Windermere Prep Lakers didn't have quite enough to beat the Lyman Greyhounds on Thursday and fell 6-5.

Vanessa Nawracaj was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Nawracaj wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cierra Walker, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Windermere Prep's record now sits at 6-3. As for Lyman, their victory ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Windermere Prep will host Cocoa Beach at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Cocoa Beach has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.25 runs per game on average), something Windermere Prep will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lyman, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Boone at 6:00 p.m. Lyman's pitchers better be ready for this one: Boone has averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
