Softball Recap: Olympia Wins Going Away Against Curtis

Olympia had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Curtis on Monday. The Bears blew past the Vikings 20-7. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won nine in a row.

Avery Mauldin was incredible, scoring four runs while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Ava Bautista was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Olympia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Olympia pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Curtis, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Olympia will head out to take on Puyallup at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears will need to watch out since the Vikings have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Curtis, they are taking a road trip to challenge Graham-Kapowsin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
