Basketball Recap: Coon Rapids Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Coon Rapids duked it out with Centennial on Tuesday. The Coon Rapids Cardinals were beaten by the Centennial Cougars 91-59. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while the Cougars are ranked 65th).

Coon Rapids has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 15 matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points over those games. As for Centennial, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.

Coming up, Coon Rapids will challenge Legacy Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Centennial has already played their next game (against Eden Prairie), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
