Softball Recap: Riverside Victorious

Riverside posted their closest victory since April 30, 2025 on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Medical Lake Cardinals 11-9. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Cardinals on Saturday, they had to take a 8-5 loss.

Lindsey Hudson-Wayne made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Izzy Cotner was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Nelson, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Riverside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.2.

Riverside's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-7-1. As for Medical Lake, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-7.

Looking ahead, Riverside will venture away from home to take on Lakeside at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. Medical Lake will be paying especially close attention to Riverside's matchup: after Riverside faces off against Lakeside, they'll take on Medical Lake again at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
