Baseball Game Preview: Ridge Community Bolts vs. Winter Haven Blue Devils

Ridge Community is 1-7 against Winter Haven since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Ridge Community will square off against Winter Haven at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, Ridge Community needed a bit of extra time to put away Haines City. They blew past the Hornets 7-1. The Bolts haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Adrian Cuadrado spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Ridge Community is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Ridge Community let Deniel Serrano and Omir Santos run wild. Serrano scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Santos scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Serrano has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Jan Quintero also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Winter Haven posted their closest victory since February 18th on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Manatee 7-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.

Ridge Community pushed their record up to 9-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Winter Haven, their record now sits at 8-12.

Ridge Community couldn't quite finish off Winter Haven in their previous matchup back in February and fell 6-4. Can Ridge Community avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
