Basketball Recap: Union Comes Up Short

Union was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 49-44 heartbreaker at the hands of the Oelwein Huskies. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-34 back in December of 2024.

Union's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Oelwein, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-13.

Union and Oelwein could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Iowa Rankings. Union (ranked 308th) will meet Jesup (ranked 72nd) at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Oelwein will challenge AGWSR at 6:15 p.m. on Friday down 139 places (276 vs. 137).
