Basketball Game Preview: Homestead Broncos vs. Boynton Beach Tigers

The Homestead Broncos will square off against the Boynton Beach Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Homestead is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.5 points per game this season.

Homestead will bounce into Friday's match after beating Palmetto, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Homestead simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat Palmetto 54-17. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Panthers are ranked 284th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Homestead's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Alissa Brown, who went 7 of 15 on her way to 17 points along with seven boards and five steals, and Caitylyn Gibson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Gibson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 28 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Ardajah Fletcher, who posted eight points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Homestead smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Boynton Beach beat Atlantic 59-51 on Thursday.

Boynton Beach now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Homestead, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.

Homestead couldn't quite finish off Boynton Beach in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 44-41. Thankfully for Homestead, Rebeca Jean (who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 17 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
