Baseball Game Preview: Archbishop Hannan Hawks vs. Northlake Christian Wolverines

The Archbishop Hannan Hawks will take on the Northlake Christian Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Archbishop Hannan has four straight wins, Northlake Christian has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Archbishop Hannan and Mandeville meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. Archbishop Hannan sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over Mandeville.

Patrick Kennedy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up six Ks. Archbishop Hannan is undefeated when Kennedy allowsone or fewer earned runs, but 9-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Archbishop Hannan's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mikey Relle, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits Relle has posted since back in February. Cooper Fletcher was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Northlake Christian came up short against Slidell on Monday, falling 10-2.

Northlake Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10-1. As for Archbishop Hannan, they now have a winning record of 13-12.

Archbishop Hannan took their victory against Northlake Christian in their previous meeting back in February by a conclusive 9-3. Will Archbishop Hannan repeat their success, or does Northlake Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
