Basketball Recap: Gibault Catholic Takes a Loss

On Monday, the Gibault Catholic Hawks lost to the Trico Pioneers on the road by a 51-36 margin.

Despite the loss, Gibault Catholic still got an impressive performance from Karmon Grohmann, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds. Grohmann has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Kamille Grohmann was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Gibault Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matchups.

Gibault Catholic has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season. As for Trico, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gibault Catholic will venture away from home to face off against Bunker Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Trico, they are taking a road trip to take on Shawnee at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
