Baseball Recap: Grace Comes Up Short

Grace was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Hueneme Vikings, falling 12-4. The Lancers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Alex Van was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Grace is 4-2 when Van posts two or more runs, but 3-4-2 otherwise. Gavin Willis was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Grace's loss dropped their record down to 7-6-2. As for Hueneme, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grace will venture away from home to face off against Foothill Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hueneme, they will head out to challenge Rio Mesa at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last four games the Spartans have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
