Baseball Recap: Burke Takes a Loss

Burke was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 12-7 to the Papillion-LaVista Monarchs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 11-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Sladen Bragg and Brady Stanley did some serious damage despite the final result: Bragg scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Stanley scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Bragg has posted since back in April of 2024. Kyle Tipler also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Burke kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Burke's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Papillion-LaVista, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burke will take on Lincoln Northeast at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lincoln Northeast's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Burke's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Papillion-LaVista, they will face off against Millard North at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Millard North will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Papillion-LaVista surely won't give up without a fight.
