Softball Recap: Elkhart Wildcats vs. Stanton County Trojans

Elkhart extended their losing streak to eight on Friday, dropping their season record down to 2-9-1 in the process. They lost 27-6 to the Stanton County Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 25-5 on Friday.

As for Stanton County, their victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Considering they have won ten matchups by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Stanton County's part, Kynzi Fehringer and Summer Kendrick did most of the damage at the plate: Fehringer got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and three RBI, while Kendrick got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. Kendrick has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Miravete, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.

Looking ahead, Elkhart will take on Southwestern Heights at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Stanton County, they will face off against Hugoton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.17 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
