Baseball Recap: San Mateo Comes Up Short

San Mateo fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Aragon on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Dons by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Bearcats have lost by just one run.

San Mateo saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayato Nishiyama, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.

This is the second loss in a row for San Mateo and nudges their season record down to 9-9. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Aragon, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-11 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Dons beat San Mateo by a score of 2-1 on Thursday.
