Basketball Game Preview: Cozad Haymakers vs. Gothenburg Swedes

The Cozad Haymakers will square off against the Gothenburg Swedes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cozad knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Gothenburg likes a good challenge.

Cozad took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 64-48 victory over St. Patrick's.

Cozad got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Olliver Davis out in front who went 7 of 9 on his way to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellen Shoemaker, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Gothenburg was able to grind out a solid victory over Centura on Saturday, taking the game 62-51.

Gothenburg has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Cozad, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Cozad came out on top in a nail-biter against Gothenburg when the teams last played back in February of 2024, sneaking past 57-55. Will Cozad repeat their success, or does Gothenburg have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
