Basketball Recap: Wheaton Academy's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Tuesday

Wheaton Academy won against Marian Central Catholic last Monday with 70 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The Wheaton Academy Warriors walked away with a 70-62 win over the Providence Catholic Celtics. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Celtics are ranked 338th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wheaton Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.0 points over those games. As for Providence Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-21 record this season.

Wheaton Academy has already played their next contest, a 56-48 win against Nazareth Academy on the 19th. As for Providence Catholic, they will welcome Chicago Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Providence Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Chicago Washington likes a good challenge.
