Volleyball Game Preview: Brawley Wildcats vs. Imperial Tigers + How To Watch

After both having extra time off, the Brawley Wildcats and the Imperial Tigers will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Brawley is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Central just ended the team's three-match winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 3-2. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Spartans 25-19 in the first set.

Brawley actually scored more points across those five sets (96-94), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-20, 10-25, 25-14, 15-12.

Sophie Ruiz put forth a good effort for the losing side as she had 18 digs and five assists. She has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Christine Layaye, who had nine digs and one assist.

Meanwhile, Imperial made easy work of Cibola on Wednesday and carried off a 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won three in a row.

While Imperial won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-10, 25-23.

Brawley better keep an eye on Ashlyn Tucker. She was instrumental in Imperial's win, getting four aces and two assists. That's the most aces Tucker has posted since back in September.

Imperial was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. They are 11-3 when they serve at least ten aces.

Brawley's defeat dropped their record down to 19-8. As for Imperial, their victory bumped their record up to 19-15.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Brawley has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.7 aces per game. However, it's not like Imperial struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Brawley beat Imperial 3-1 in their previous meeting back in September. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
