Baseball Game Preview: Rye Thunderbolts vs. Las Animas Trojans

Rye is 8-2 against Las Animas since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Thunderbolts will head out on the road to square off against the Trojans at 3:00 p.m. Rye is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Rye fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Swink on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-4 to the Lions, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Branson Burbidge made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Rye: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-16 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Las Animas didn't have quite enough to beat Fowler on Friday and fell 3-2. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rye's defeat dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Las Animas, their loss dropped their record down to 15-5.
