Baseball Recap: Lyman Takes a Loss

Lyman had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-5 to make it four. They came up short against the Lake Mary Rams, falling 10-3. That's two games in a row now that the Greyhounds have lost by exactly seven runs.

Lyman got a good showing from Gavin Estright, who pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Estright has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Ethan Farrington was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Yadiel Ruiz Espada, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Lake Mary, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-3. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Lake Mary's side, Elijah Dyer tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk).

On the hitting side, Elijah Prisciandaro was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Louis Hernandez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Coming up, Lake Mary will square off against New Smyrna Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lyman will be paying especially close attention to the Rams' matchup: after the Rams face off against the Barracudas, they'll take on Lyman again at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
