Softball Game Preview: Pontotoc Warriors vs. Itawamba Agricultural Indians

The Pontotoc Warriors will venture away from home to take on the Itawamba Agricultural Indians at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Pontotoc is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Pontotoc took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with an 11-7 win over Corinth. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Pontotoc considering their one-run performance the match before.

Erynn Boddie was a standout: she scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Madi Collums, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Itawamba Agricultural didn't have quite enough to beat Lewisburg on Friday and fell 3-2.

Skylar Partlow made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Pontotoc is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. Itawamba Agricultural's loss ended an 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 14-2.

Pontotoc couldn't quite finish off Itawamba Agricultural when the teams last played back in April of 2021 and fell 7-5. Can Pontotoc avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
