Baseball Recap: North Buncombe Triumphs

The home team had won the previous four meetings between North Buncombe and Madison, and North Buncombe kept the tradition alive. The Black Hawks skirted past the Patriots 3-2. That's two games straight that the Black Hawks have won by just one run.

Kameron Keenan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. North Buncombe is 2-1 when Keenan posts ten or more strikeouts, but 5-8 otherwise. Keenan was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Matthew Ledford looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has become a key player for North Buncombe: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-8 otherwise.

Keenan wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Davis Franklin, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

North Buncombe's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-9. As for Madison, they dropped their record down to 8-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, North Buncombe will challenge Erwin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Madison, they will be playing at home against Owen at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
