Basketball Recap: Perris Panthers vs. West Valley Mustangs
Perris lost against West Valley two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Perris Panthers took a 64-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Valley Mustangs. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
West Valley was led to victory by Malachi Black and Ahmad McClellan. Black dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, while McClellan went 6 of 14 on his way to 18 points along with eight steals and six rebounds. Black's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Rameriez, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 14 points.
Perris' loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for West Valley, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Perris will take on Tahquitz in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Perris knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Tahquitz likes a good challenge. As for West Valley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-45 victory against Heritage on the 16th.
