Basketball Game Preview: Burlingame Panthers vs. Carlmont Scots

Burlingame hasn't had much luck against Carlmont recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Burlingame Panthers will head out to square off against the Carlmont Scots at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Wednesday, Burlingame earned a 62-50 win over Hillsdale. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 50.6 points per game.

Burlingame can attribute much of their success to Lucca Maher, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks, and David Parrot, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Maher a new career-high in blocks. Marcus Tapia was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Meanwhile, Carlmont entered their tilt with Hillsdale on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They took down the FIGHTING KNIGHTS 64-46. Given the Scots' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the FIGHTING KNIGHTS are ranked 672nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Carlmont is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Burlingame, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10.

Things could have been worse for Burlingame, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 66-47 loss to Carlmont in their previous meeting on January 8th. Can Burlingame avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
