Basketball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Norfolk Collegiate

If Legacy Academy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Norfolk Collegiate, they should've done a better job of containing Gavin Wright. The Norfolk Collegiate Mighty Oaks put the hurt on Legacy Academy with a sharp 79-59 win on Wednesday thanks to Wright, who went 8-for-9 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and three steals. What's more, he also posted a 89% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in February of 2024.

Josh Mills was another key player, putting up 12 points. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 45.3% field goal percentage.

Legacy Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malik Douglas, who went 8-for-12 to rack up 19 points. Douglas is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 57% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Anderson Allen, who posted nine points.

The victory made it two in a row for Norfolk Collegiate and bumps their season record up to 15-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.5 points over those games. As for Legacy Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Norfolk Collegiate does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Legacy Academy, they will face off against TPLS Christian Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
