South Williamsport dropped their record down to 11-3 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Bald Eagle Area Eagles by a score of 1-0. The Mountaineers were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the three games prior), but the Eagles' pitchers proved too tough.

As for Bald Eagle Area, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since May 24, 2024.

For Bald Eagle Area's part, the result came thanks to Sierra Albright's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 16 Ks. Those 16 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Albright.

On the hitting side, Bald Eagle Area's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Looking ahead, South Williamsport is taking a road trip to face off against Holy Redeemer at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mountaineers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Royals have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Bald Eagle Area, they will welcome Westmont Hilltop at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
