The Galena Pirates will be home for the holidays to greet the Ashton-Franklin Center Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ashton-Franklin Center took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Galena, who comes in off a win.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 16 to 6 on the offensive boards, a fact Galena proved on Tuesday. They came out on top against River Ridge by a score of 53-46.
It was another big night for Connor Glasgow, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Galena's points. Another player making a difference was Josh Mcnett, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Ashton-Franklin Center's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. Their rough 60-36 defeat to Hinckley-Big Rock might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Ashton-Franklin Center can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 721st, while Hinckley-Big Rock is ranked 310th).
Galena's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Ashton-Franklin Center, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-7.
Everything came up roses for Galena against Ashton-Franklin Center in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 71-30 victory. With Galena ahead 43-14 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
