Top-ranked Mater Dei won its playoff opener 49-14 over Norco behind a strong performance from sophomore quarterback
Elijah Brown, completing 20-of-25 passes for 364 yards and six touchdowns.
Matt Logan's Centennial squad cruised to a one-sided 62-16 win over Mission Viejo and moved up two spots to No. 11 in this week's MaxPreps Top 25. Mater Dei and Corona Centennial have met 10 since 2007, splitting those meetings with the Monarchs winning the last two by an average margin of 32 points.
No. 4 St. John Bosco dominated in the trenches in its 62-38 win against Los Alamitos. The Braves finished the night with 588 yards rushing and eight of their nine touchdowns were on the ground.
Rayshon Luke led the way with 10 carries for 249 yards and three scores. The Braves won the Oct. 29 regular-season meeting against Servite 24-10.
Tetairoa McMillan showed off his versatility in No. 7 Servite's 34-3 win over Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita) by intercepting three passes in the final quarter as the Friars outscored the Eagles 21-0 in the final period. The future Oregon Duck has over 1,200 yards receiving and 17 touchdowns to go with seven interceptions.
No. 2 IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) battles No. 15 St. Frances Academy (Baltimore) on Friday to finish the season. Winners of 19 in a row, the Ascenders' last loss was in 2019 to St. Frances as the Panthers beat IMG 35-7, the second-worst loss in school history. St. Frances Academy has won seven in a row since a season-opening loss to No. 14 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.).
The fourth MaxPreps Top 25 matchup is the Alabama 7A semifinal game between No. 18 Hoover and No. 24 Thompson (Alabaster). The Bucs snapped the back-to-back 7A champs 27-game win streak with a 24-21 comeback victory a month ago. Thompson starting quarterback
Conner Harrell got hurt in that game and didn't play the second half. He played in the second half of Thompson's 45-7 win over Oak Mountain (Birmingham) last week, completing 10-of-13 passes for 111 yards and a score.
No. 12 Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.) moved up three spots after the biggest win of the weekend, snapping Chandler's (Ariz.) 45-game win streak with a 21-14 victory. The defense finished the night with 10 sacks and

Tre Spivey from 7 yards out with just over eight minutes remaining for the game-winning score. The win gave the Huskies their second win over a Top 10 opponent after shocking Bishop Gorman earlier in the season.
The Wolves dropped to No. 17 but have a chance to rebound as Hamilton and Chandler are on a collision course in the Arizona Open Division finals on Dec. 11 at Sun Devil Stadium.
