Baseball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Saint Francis

While Saint Francis's win against Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lancers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Fighting Irish a 1-0 shutout on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lancers have posted since February 24th.

Not much got past Kyle McMillan, who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory off the board. McMillan has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up a single earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

The win (which was Saint Francis' fifth in a row) raised their record to 20-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, they dropped their record down to 8-15 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lancers 1.1, the Bells 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
