Baseball Recap: First Coast Christian Triumphs

First Coast Christian's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Harvest Community Warriors by a score of 13-10. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-3 back in February.

Matthew Dees made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-4. First Coast Christian is 3-1-1 when Dees posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, John Chacon was a standout: he scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of First Coast Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-0-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Dylan Carpenter also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

First Coast Christian now has a winning record of 4-3-1. As for Harvest Community, they dropped their record down to 3-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, First Coast Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Cedar Creek Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Harvest Community, they will welcome Duval Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
