Basketball Recap: Lake Ridge Academy Comes Up Short

Lake Ridge Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took a hard 54-38 fall against the Westside Christian Academy Eagles. The Royals were probably out for revenge after losing 60-48 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Westside Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Calvin Cottenden out in front who went 6 of 13 en route to 14 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Cottenden has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Douglass, who posted 13 points and five boards.

Lake Ridge Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Westside Christian Academy, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 18-3.

Lake Ridge Academy has already played their next matchup (against Temple Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Westside Christian Academy will venture away from home to take on First Baptist Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Westside Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season.
