Basketball Recap: New West Charter Falls Short of Diamond Ranch in the Playoffs

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, New West Charter couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were beaten by the Diamond Ranch Panthers 85-57 on Tuesday. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

New West Charter's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Liam Hakimi, who shot 60% from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and three steals, and Nathan Castellanos, who went 8-for-12 to rack up 20 points and three steals. Hakimi's big performance that evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Yohan Kamgaing, who posted four points in addition to nine boards and three blocks.

New West Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Diamond Ranch, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 20-14 record this season.

New West Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Diamond Ranch, they are taking a road trip to take on Kaiser at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kaiser will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Diamond Ranch surely won't give up without a fight.
