Basketball Game Preview: Plainfield South Cougars vs. Sycamore Spartans + Official Tickets

The Plainfield South Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Sycamore Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Plainfield South is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.3 points per game this season.

Plainfield South is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Plainfield East 64-23. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cougars' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the Bengals are ranked 564th).

Plainfield South's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zahira Edwards, who shot 64% from beyond the arc to rack up 23 points. The dominant performance also gave Edwards a new career-high in field goal percentage (62%). Layla Lesure was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards.

Plainfield South was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They are 3-1 when they've passed the ball that well.

Meanwhile, Sycamore was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 58-54 to Hampshire. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sycamore's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Plainfield South, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
