Basketball Recap: Trinity Catholic Comes Up Short

Trinity Catholic played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Hope Academy Trojan Tigers, falling 72-49. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Celtics this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-43 back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Trinity Catholic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Xavier Serrano went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points. Gabriel Serrano was another key player, going 6 for 10 en route to 12 points.

Hope Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Willie Griggs led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. Griggs is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last 30 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Dwayne Foreman III, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points along with eight assists and three steals.

Trinity Catholic is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10. As for Hope Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-5.

Trinity Catholic has already played their next matchup, a 69-58 victory against Umatilla on the 17th. As for Hope Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 73-72 defeat against South Lake on the 16th.
