Basketball Recap: Wirt County Takes a Loss

Wirt County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 43-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wahama White Falcons. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Tigers came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the White Falcons are ranked 346th).

Wirt County's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Wahama, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wirt County will venture away from home to challenge Gilmer County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wahama, they will take on Calhoun at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Calhoun will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Wahama surely won't give up without a fight.
