Softball Recap: Mt. Vernon/Plankinton Titans vs. Gayville-Volin Raiders
Mt. Vernon/Plankinton and Gayville-Volin squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Mt. Vernon/Plankinton had to settle for second. They lost 11-1 to the Gayville-Volin Raiders. Mt. Vernon/Plankinton was red-hot at the plate headed into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the three contests prior) but Gayville-Volin's pitcher proved too tough.
For Gayville-Volin's part, Ayla Dimmer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Dimmer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive pitching appearances.
