Football Recap: Rockdale Takes a Loss

Rockdale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by the Franklin Lions 70-18. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 879th, while the Lions are ranked 74th).

When it comes to explaining why Rockdale lost, don't look at Deandre Stephens. Despite the final result, he picked up 122 receiving yards. Stephens' receiving production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 122 receiving yards.

Rockdale's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Franklin, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Rockdale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Franklin, they will welcome Hallettsville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions will be up against the Brahmas' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.6 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
