Volleyball Recap: Gulf Breeze Finds Playoff Glory Versus Menendez

It's playoff time, and Gulf Breeze had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Menendez Falcons on Tuesday. The Dolphins have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Falcons, too.

While Gulf Breeze won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-17, 25-22.

Their offense was headlined by Spencer Smtih and Nathaniel Arnold, who picked up eight kills apiece. Arnold really made an impact as he also led the team in assists with 18. He was also solid from the service line: he led the team with six aces.

Gulf Breeze's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-5. As for Menendez, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

Gulf Breeze will square off against St. Augustine at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Yellow Jackets will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Dolphins surely won't give up without a fight. Menendez does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
