Volleyball Game Preview: Mathews Blue Devils vs. Lancaster Red Devils

The Mathews Blue Devils will take on the Lancaster Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mathews will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Mathews is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Northampton 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Devils have posted since September 22nd.

Meanwhile, Lancaster hadn't done well against Rappahannock recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Red Devils put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 3-0 victory.

While Lancaster might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Rappahannock scored at least 21 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-21, 25-22.

Lancaster's win bumped their record up to 20-5. As for Mathews, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Mathews suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Lancaster when the teams last played back in October of 2023. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
