Softball Recap: Ridgefield Victorious

With a playoff win on the line, Ridgefield rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Enfield Eagles 5-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Caitlin McGratty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sophia Cappiello, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May. Another player making a difference was Grace Couch, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Ridgefield now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Enfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-6.

Ridgefield will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair will be back at it again later today.
