Softball Recap: Rogers Find Success

Rogers proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 18) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Whitney Wildcats 17-15. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Ariela Gutierrez was incredible, firing off three triples, four runs, and two stolen bases while going 4-for-5. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Kenzie Ulicnik was another key player, going 2-for-5 with five RBI and three runs.

Rogers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Whitney only posted a batting average of .212.

Rogers' victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Whitney, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, Rogers is taking a road trip to square off against Belton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Whitney, they will take on Benbrook in a tournament on Saturday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season.
