Baseball Recap: Mandarin Mustangs vs. Englewood Rams
Mandarin came into Thursday's match having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Englewood Rams 4-3. The victory was just what Mandarin needed coming off of a 10-0 loss in their prior contest.
Hunter Simpson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Mandarin's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cole Rusak, who went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Martin, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
On Englewood's side, Ethan Anderson put in work no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Anderson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.

Mandarin's victory bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Englewood, they dropped their record down to 12-4 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mandarin will square off against Atlantic Coast at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Atlantic Coast will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Mandarin surely won't give up without a fight. As for Englewood, they are on the road again on Tuesday to play Bolles at 6:30 p.m.
