Basketball Game Preview: Connelly School of the Holy Child vs. Maret Frogs

Connelly School of the Holy Child is 1-9 against Maret since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. Connelly School of the Holy Child will challenge the Maret Frogs at 5:45 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Connelly School of the Holy Child came up short against Georgetown Day and fell 56-48. While losing is never fun, Connelly School of the Holy Child can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 126th in Maryland, while Georgetown Day is ranked ninth in District of Columbia).

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Maret on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew St. Andrew's Episcopal out of the water with a 65-37 final score. The Frogs pushed the score to 56-31 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lions had little chance of recovering from.

Maret had a senior duo take command as Kennedy Austin dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards and London Liley went 9 for 16 on her way to 24 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. What's more, Austin also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Taylor Lyles was another key player, putting up six points.

Maret smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Maret's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Connelly School of the Holy Child, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

Connelly School of the Holy Child took a serious blow against Maret when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 66-29. Can Connelly School of the Holy Child avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
