Softball Recap: Capitan Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

It's playoff time, and Capitan had no trouble coming through when it counted. They never let the Mora Rangers/Rangerettes get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Wednesday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by nine runs or more this season.

Faith Roper looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lulu Emerson-Betti was a standout: she got on base in two of her three plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Rogers, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The victory was the third in a row for Capitan, bringing their record up to 11-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mora, the loss snapped their winning streak at 13 games and leaves them with a 20-5 record.

Capitan has already played their next contest, a 24-0 defeat against Loving on the 7th. Mora does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
