Softball Game Preview: Wilcox RVT Wildcats vs. Grasso Tech Eagles

The Wilcox RVT Wildcats will head out to face off against the Grasso Tech Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Grasso Tech will be up against a hot Wilcox RVT squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Wildcats' pitcher stepped up to hand Abbott RVT a 14-0 shutout on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 14 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Chloe Enger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashley Stimpson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Ariana Suarez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Wilcox RVT always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Grasso Tech, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy on Friday. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Wilcox RVT pushed their record up to 15-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Grasso Tech, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.
